SPECIAL HURDY GURDY-CLINIC
Michalina Malisz (Lyrre) shows her skills
She toured all over the world with Eluveitie, but Michalina Malisz decided to continue with her own band: Lyrre. She is singer and hurdy gurdy-player in this band. During Brainstorm Festival she shows the audience all you can do with this special instrument. This happens during a special clinic in the theater on Saturday.
The 16th edition of Brainstorm Festival will take place on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 November in Podium Gigant in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands. Besides concerts on the mainstage there is a theaterstage for (acoustic) performances and band-interviews. The festival also offers an exposition, beer tasting sessions and a small cd-market.

LINE-UP MAINSTAGE NOW COMPLETE
New bands: Temperance (ITA), Hamradun (FO) and Lyrre (PL)
With the confirmation of Temperance (ITA) and Lyrre (PL), the mainstage line-up of Brainstorm Festival is complete. Hamradun (FO) has also been confirmed, but that band will provide a special show in the theater.
Temperance's return couldn't have come at a better time. Two years ago, the Italians made a big impression at Brainstorm Festival. Since then, the band has toured extensively and built up a large fanbase. And a new album will be released just before our festival. Temperance also brings their new singer Kristin Starkey. This promises to be a top-show!
Hamradun has been added to the program in the theater. The band was founded by an ex-member of Hamferd, and comes from the Faroe Islands. Hamradun plays rockmusic, with a touch of doom and some folk-influences. The band does this successfully, and therefor they can be seen playing shows all over Europe
Finally, the Polish band Lyrre has been confirmed. This is the new band of singer and hurdy-gurdy player Michalina Malisz, who we still know from Eluveitie. Earlier this year, the band played at MetalYard in Arnhem, and will return to The Netherlands in November for a show at Brainstorm Festival.
As headliner for this years festival Extol (progressive death-metal) is confirmed. On Friday Xandria (symphonic metal) will headline. Also present are: Serenity (power-metal), In Vain (progressive death-metal), Fellowship (power-metal), Confessions Of A Traitor (metalcore), Leonov (post-rock/metal), Angelic Forces (80’s hardrock) and Neverus(progressive death-metal).

IN VAIN (NO) CELEBRATES 20TH ANNIVERSARY IN APELDOORN
New Dutch highlight Neverus now confirmed as well
Fans of harder metal will be pleased with the following news. Two highlights in progressive death-metal are coming to this years Brainstorm Festival: In Vain (NO) and Neverus (NL). Both bands play on Friday-evening. The same night the promising power-metal band Fellowship (UK) will hit the stage!
In Vain celebrates its 20th anniversary with a special show featuring all the band’s highlights. On top of that we might get a little taste of the new album the Norwegian progressive death-metal band is working on.
The English power-metal band Fellowship is on the verge of an international breakthrough. We would like to give these fine gentlemen a helping hand. This promises to be a show where delicious power-metal is combined with a healthy dose of humour.
We have not missed the rise of Neverus, and we are happy to offer the ‘Dutch Wintersun’ a spot at our festival. The Dutch will open the festival on Friday on our mainstage.

THREE NEW BANDS ADDED TO THE LINE-UP
Confessions Of A Traitor, Leonov and Angelic Forces confirmed
The English melodic metalcore band Confessions Of A Traitor, the Norwegian post-rock/doom band Leonov and the Dutch 80’s metalband Angelic Forces are confirmed for the 16th edition of Brainstorm Festival. These three bands will all play on Saturday 4 November.
In just a few years time Confessions Of A Traitor built a strong reputation within the UK. Thanks to their success the band inked a deal with Facedown Records. COAT is currently the only European band on the roster of this highly acclaimed American recordlabel. And now for the very first time these fine English gentlemen will play in The Netherlands.
For sure Leonov is not visiting The Netherlands for the first time. In fact the band played twice at Brainstorm Festival already, but also played FemME once. This year Leonov will release a new record, which is more then enough reason to return the band to our theatre for a special atmospheric show of post-rock and doom-metal.
It are not just international bands coming. Angelic Forces are from the north of The Netherlands and will bring their catchy 80’s hardrock to Apeldoorn. Their latest album ‘Arise’ is received well internationally, and for us a very good reason to confirm the band for Brainstorm Festival.

SYMPHONIC POWER-METAL
Serenity confirmed for Brainstorm Festival
With Serenity another interesting name has been added to the line-up of Brainstorm Festival. The band from Austria will hit the stage on Saturday 4 November. Besides enjoying some great music this is a good opportunity to get some extra history-lessons.
When it comes to the lyrics of Serenity it’s all about history. That doesn’t come as a surprise when you know that vocalist Georg Neuhauser is a history-teacher. But his students doesn’t get their lessons packed so nicely. Serenity has become one of the better symphonic power-metal bands in Europe, and for sure is considered of the favourites for many metalfans.
